Speed of light

A few hours after you boarded your southbound plane, I was doing some housekeeping with one of my back packs.

The backpack, a black one, was my constant companion during my frequent travels from here to the neighboring island, where I used to work - you know that.  While I did my house - or bagkeeping, I found some candy wrappers, papers, and receipts -  and what a surprise I found.

I found our resort bill, dated exactly one year ago, when we decided to have a one day beach getaway in Panglao Island.  How time flies really fast.

It made me smile and remember.

It was a Saturday.  A friend of ours actually brought up the idea of going to Panglao because she wanted to celebrate her birthday in one of the beach resorts there. But her plan was palpak and way klaro as always, and that incident made me promise to myself and to you that I will never ever bank on her words again.

Nevertheless, we went ahead with the plan, boarded on the 9am trip to Tagbilaran, and while floating at sea, made transactions on the phone regarding our resort accomodation, and had lunch in Chicken Ati-Atihan.  I was happy at the chance of being able to show you around some parts of the city.  We even called up Melany, a nurse from the hospital where I used to work, and someone who has become a good friend.    I called her up so you could talk and get to know the friend I have back on that island.

After lunch, we rushed to the grocery to grab some food and other stuff we would need, then we were fetched by my suking taxi driver Rolly.  Then we were off to Panglao Island.  Bohol Beach Club to be exact.

We dropped our bags as soon as we opened our room, rested for a while, went around the resort, took some pictures, and finally took a dip into the bluegreen waters of Panglao, on my favorite time of day to take a swim, late afternoon  -  just before dusk  That moment was one of the perfect moments we had, to rival with our Boracay adventure.

How time flies really fast.

Who would know you would be southbound exactly a year after that.

At least we made a lot of memories before you left.  I will hold on to these memories until you come home.

Be safe, my love.  You have my heart.  Always.  I hope that will make you smile each time you remember.
